The Western Concourse Terminal is the second and final stage of the redevelopment at Canberra International Airport at Brindabella, ACT. The current works include the three-storey glazed atrium, which features 14.5m high glass fins and full-height frameless glass and a 10m high cuneate patch fitted glass pedestrian bridge.
Surface Design have conducted structural Finite Element Modelling (FEM) of the facade in order to engineer and design the structural elements and connections for the imposing atrium entry, the bridge and other elements of the Stage 2 works. The complex FEM required for the analysis was completed with the Strand7 modelling suite.
Works were completed in mid-2013.
